I look around Boston sports in this Sunday

The Pro teams
Ok--Patriots just whipped Miami Thursday night and we all really enjoying the Tom Brady ride until the playoffs.
The Bruins are 6-3 which is a surprise to me. They seemed to have gutted their team...time will tell
Celtics are 1-1--have no star power but have an excellent young coach.
The sox's are in their off season and could be better next year with some young players.
The Rev's just lost to DC United and no one cared. They did have a good season in attendance but they need a stadium in downtown Boston to be taken seriously.

The Rev attendance average is 19,687. I think the average would go up with a new stadium and be even higher if it was in right location. Rugby is starting to take off and the stadium could be used. This stadium could be perfect for UMass football since they average a small crowd. UMass could buy land and build a stadium in conjunction with the Revolution, UMass football and a new Rugby team.

Rugby USA
Well the Rugby World Cup just concluded and New Zealand beat Australia. The USA is way behind the top teams however USA Rugby seven series is much more competitive. The sport is in it's infancy and we could see a real rush here. What's next is America' six nations Championship which will mimic Europeans six Nations Championship and be played at the same time. This should start February 2016. The USA will compete with Argentina, Canada, Uruguay, Chile and Brazil. Every one likes a winner and the USA should more games against the America teams than against the Pacific Nations Cup.

College Football
Well BC is on a 5 game losing streak. I think Addazio is a perfect fit for BC. He did well at Temple where no one does good. BC--needs a QB. Our big game will be against Syracuse on rivalry weekend. Of the last 8 games the series s 4-4. Cuse ownes the overall 29-19.

College Hockey:
Well the Western teams use to dominate the Championships...and recently it has been the East teams willing 7 of the last 8 Championships. Providence College is the latest Champion and this is great for Hockey East to have another top team in the league. Denver just lost to BU last night and BC the night before....so let the dominance continue. BC, BU, Lowell, Providence are your front runners but UNH, Maine, ND and NE will challenge.

High School football upsets
Division 1 North: #1 seed St Johns Prep lost to Everett.
Division 1 South  #5 CM beat BC High.

This is the fun time for HS football. Hopefully Boston College or UMass can find some kids for their programs.

International teams:

Soccer
USMNT is staring their World Cup Qualification against a weak field of Guatemala, Trinidad and Tobago and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. This is easier than Bulgaria's group of  Netherlands, Czech Rep, Sweden, Belarus and  Luxembourg. These games start Nov 13th against St Vinny. Let's just say the USA better get their act together before the Hex.

U-23 Olympic team still has to defeat Colombia in a CONCACAF-CONMEBOL playoff in MArch 2016. This was disappointing since the USA did not make the last Olympics and everyone stressed how important it was to qualify. The US even had home field.

U-20 CONCACAF Championship...the USA did not qualify directly to the U-20 World Cup. They had to beat El Salvador to Make the U-20 World Cup. The USA did advance out of Group play with a 2-0-1 record. The then beat Colombia to lose to Champion Serbia in a shootout. At least there is hope in the future.

CONCACAF Champions League  Championship 2015-16
Ok...this is the first time all 4 USA teams and 4 Mexican teams made the knockout rounds. This stage willl begin in March 2016...so we have a little wait.

.
Hockey
USA Hockey senior team is not as good as other international countries. They last won in 1960 and only won 2 gold metals. They are ranked 5th in the World Hockey ranking and get another crack to move past Finland in May....these games will played in the cozy Russia...The USA doesn't always field---i should say never fields their bast team. Why....well the NHL playoff are in full swing.during this time. NFL players could join the national team but who wants to play in Russia after a battle in the NHL playoffs. Not many..

The World Junior Hockey ((U-20) is the fun tournament that get a lot of publicity. The USA and Canada usually send their top prospects to develop. There is no ranking here since there is such a big turnover. The tournament is always played during Christmas break Dec 26 to Jan 5th. The 2015-16 tournament will be played in Finland. Canada (16) and Russia (13) have dominated. However USA (3), Finland (3), Chez Rep (2) and Sweden (2) have all won the tournament. There have been 5 different winners the last 5 years which makes this tournament unpredictable and great.
