#1 The Big game pitted the #1 Ranked Central Catholic against defending Super Bowl Champs and 4th ranked St John’s Prep. both from Merrimack Valley. For the second week in a row the #1 ranked team loses 28-14. Central CAtholic loses to the Prep 28-14

#2 Central of Springfield against #3 Catholic Memorial. Central (S) played Central Catholic last week and now they have CM. This is a monster schedule with the travel. Central lost in West Roxbury to CM 21-14.

#3 Catholic Memorial beat #2 Central 21-13. Central are your D3 Superbowl Champions however they have boys enrollment over 900. CM is a D1 school with the lowest enrollment at about 560 also reached the D1 Super Bowl..

2018 MIAA football playoffs.

Starting with Division 1

Noth:
Everett finally lost. That right Everett got knocked out of the playoffs. They are the 2 time D1 Super Bowl Champions and Central Catholic finally knocked them out of the playoffs.

Central Catholic will face #2 seed St John's Prep of Daners. The Prep pounded Acton Boxboro 41-21.

In the South,
You guessed it Xaverian beat a very formitable Franklin team 37-29. This game was very tight but the home, Catholic team from Westwood will again be in the South Final.

The other game was Catholic Memorial on the road against neighbor Needham, CM beat Needham 35-32 and now must face thier nemesis Xeverian in the South final. CM lost last year 2017 to Xaverian in the South Final. CM lost to X in 2016 in the Semi finals 34-29. CM lost 2015 in the semi finals to Xav. You get the picture.

Division 1 is all Catholics.

Division 2

North:
Yes we have a power this year in North Andover. Thats right....not Andover but North Andover. North Andover recently joined the Merrimack Valley league in 2012 and has been growing in their football prowess even since. They are the only undefeated team in Division 2. They pounded Woburn 42-14 and will face #2 ranked Lincold Sudbury in the South D2 final in Noirth Andover.

South:
There are about 6 storied programs that are in Division South. Starting with #1 ranked Mansfield. They beat #8 ranked Bridgewater-Rayneham them beat #5 Barnstable. To reach the final.
The other side of the bracket Has #3 King Phillip beat #2 Natick on the road 17-7. Now the up and coming King Phillip (Wrethem) will again play in the D2 Championhip game. King Phillip, as you know is not only D2 south Champion for the last 2 years...they are Super Bowl D2 Champions. This will be a game for the ages.

Division 3

North and South.

#1 Tewsksuby beat #5Beverly to reach the north final. The winner will face #1 and undefeated Duxbury dragons or the #2 surprise program of the Hingham Harbormen. The winner of D3 North will play the winner of D south.

This winner will play the winner of either Central St Jiohns Shrewsbury v Doherty or West Champion Springfield Central or Westfield. The Central and Western Schools are much biggeer (student population wise) .

Central and West
You see the Central and Western School played in the D2 superbowls and lost in 2013,2014,2015 and 2016. So they lobbied to drop down a Division for the Super Bowl. In 2017 St Johns Shrewsbury finally won a Super Bowl in D3 against North Attleborough is a very tight competative game 35-33.

D 6 South Massachusetts High School football

Old Rochester get the top seed here in D6 South playoff bracket. This bracket could be called the Tri-Valley Playoff since 4 teams are from this mighty conference. Old Rochester are not from the Tri Valley league and  are undefeated and had to play a Catholic School in Bishop Stang. Old Rochester won by 5 and now has to play Dedham.

Dedham is a D -6 School that just joined the Tri -Valley league this year. They dropped out of the Bay state league which had huge teams. Dedham finally is competing with teams its sixe. Well Dedham finally got a winning record and a home playoff game. They rewarded their fans with and emphatic 34-14.

Ashland got the #2 seed win a 6-1 record and they played and beat fellow Tri VAlley league opponent Dover-Sherborn. They now have to face #3 seed Medway anothe Tri VAleey League team.

Medway get the #3 seed and beat Norwell. They face

Division 2 South Massachusetts footall playoffs.

I believe this is by far the strongest and deepest Division in all of Massachusetts. No other than 6 teams have a legit shot at winning. Mansfield have been to the most super Bowls. They played and beat the formidable Bridgewater and Raynham 21-7. They will play the winner of Welleyley and Barnstable game which is on today.

The other side has Natick, who town always seems to have a great team and a Flutie that plays on it. Natick beat New Bedford 21-12 in a game at Natick. New Bedford partitioned to dropped to D-2 however the teams I believe are just as soo as D1 south teams.

King Phillip has been producing top quality teams for the last 7 or 8 years. This year the team from Wrentham takes the 3rd seed and beat Braintree at home 21-7.

This sets up quite a show down in Natick next week and Natick host King Phillip. King Phillip has went undefeated in 2016 and 2017 and finally lost 2 games this year. They are the reigning Super Bowl Champions also.

I see Mansfield beating Wellesley at home and the upset is King Phillip beating Natick away.

Massachusetts football Division 1 North playoff bracket

The question is, can anyone knock off Everett. Everett is te perennial power in Massachusetts, They are again undefeated and have also beaten the perennial power, Xaverian from the South. Will there be any upset this year. Well there is always home

Mass High School playoffs D1 South

The Division 1 South open with Xaverian taking the top spot again. There were no surprises as all the home teams (favorites) won.
Xavarian got the top seed. This has been a yearly occurance for the last decade. The opeing round they faced their Catholic Conference rival BC High and beat them confortably 17-0.

Two big public school of Brockton traveled to Franklin. Franklin beat the Boxers 26-3 which now sets up a great Catholic (Xaverian) v Public Big school for the semi finals.

The other side of the bracket has Catholic Memorial ranked 3rd. The pounded Attleboro 42-19. They also have the ex coach of Xaverian this year. He is instilling a winning attitude. This is also the 40 year annaversary of CM's last Super Bowl 1978,

Needham had a great season and got the #2 seed with a 5-2 record. They played Newton North At home and won and now must face Catholic Memorial again in the playoffs. Needham and West Roxbury i believe abutt each other, so the travel for the Catolic Conference team will not be that difficult.

I see Xaverian beating Franlin and CM winning away in Needham to set up a Catholic Conference show down.
